They Are Back! St. Augustine’s Azadani Dojo Completes the Journey to the International Stage at the 2024 European Kyokushin-Kan Championship

St. Augustine Florida’s Kyokushin-Kan Azadani Dojo Team and Shihan Seyar Azadani has officially completed their journey to the 2024 Open Kyokushin-Kan European Championships in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Held on September 7th and 8th, this exciting event brought together over 600 competitors from 25 countries, to show and tell the best in Kyokushin karate.
Shihan Seyar Azadani, a 6th Dan Black Belt and influential Branch Chief of the Kyokushin-Kan International Karate Organization, proudly led his team to test and prove their skills and dedication to self and the art of the Kan(family). Among the competitors were his son, the young and talented Omar (Soul Crusher) Azadani, and Darius (Ironman) Whitfield. Omar Azadani earned an impressive 2nd place in his division, while both he and Darius Whitfield displayed their talents and represented St. Augustine, Florida, and the Azadani Dojo with divergence.
A Turning Point for St. Augustine’s Martial Arts Scene
Although the Azadani Dojo did not bring home the gold this year, they brought something else more priceless via their participation at the European Championships. They took with them a testament to their skill, dedication, and competitive spirit but they brought back an unforgettable experience and deeper connections to the Kyokushin Kan legacy. Facing their daunting opponents head on, the St. Augustine Kyokushin Kan Karate athletes willfully demonstrated their readiness to compete on the stage worldwide. The experience these amazing martial artist gained will undoubtedly contribute to their future successes for the dojo and its present and future students. This is undoubtfully a new chapter in the lives of Shihan Seyar Azadani’s students and St. Augustine, Florida’s enriched history.
Shihan Seyar Azadani and Azadani Dojo: A Legacy of Honor
Shihan Seyar Azadani is a pillar within the Kyokushin-Kan community. He is the light bearer of Kyokushin-Kan locally and continues to be a pillar on the foundation of the legacy internationally. His St. Augustine dojo is the foundation for producing exceptional Kyokushin-Kan students and competitors in the realm of self-discipline, respect and honor locally. Beyond being a place to train for the art, Azadani Dojo is a place where students are instilled with values of perseverance but it is also the place to reach for heights annihilating limitations and a home for family values.
History Just Happened for Afghanistan
Standing in the spotlight from the European Championships, Naseebullah Atal from Nangarhar, Afghanistan, achieved a historic victory by winning the gold medal in the Men’s Lightweight Division (65 kg). This is the first time an Afghan competitor has won a European Championship title, marking a significant historic event for the Afghanistan Karate community and serving as an Inspiration to all of Afghanistan. Naseebullah Atal is a former student of St. Augustine’s Shihan Seyar Azadani himself.
Back To the Future
Now that Shihan Seyar Azadani and his team has returned from Romania with valuable experiences and priceless achievements, and as Naseebullah Atal celebrates his historic triumph, the entire Kyokushin community returns home with one focus in mind; to strengthen their skills and reach for their next achievements and victories in the future. For some the next victory may be just a short time away in November. Amongst those victories Shihan Seyar Azadani and the Azadani Dojo intends on taking their place in the All-Americas Kyokushin-kan Karate Tournament held in San Jose, Costa Rica.
