Kyokushin
Kyokushin is a full-contact Karate style that originated in Japan. Kyokushin practice is rooted in a self-improvement philosophy, discipline, and continuous hard training.
Kyokushin, a full-contact style of stand-up fighting system, was introduced by Masutatsu Oyama during the development of the Oyama theory of Karate in Oyama Dojo since Oyama Dojo was initially opened in 1953.

In April 1964, Sosai Mas Oyama established the “International Karate Organization Kyokushin Kaikan”, abbreviated IKO, under the umbrella of the Kyokushin Scholarship Foundation. In June 1964, the central dojo (Honbu Dojo) was opened in Ikebukuro, Toshima, Tokyo.
In 1969, Sosai Mas Oyama and the International Karate Organization held The First All-Japan Full Contact Karate Open Championships. In 1975, Sosai Oyama organized the First World Full Contact Karate Open Championships in Tokyo.
The Kyokushin Scholarship Foundation, which was the umbrella for Sosai Oyama’s Kyokushin Kaikan Organization, has been maintained and active by efforts of Kaich Hatsuo Royama, 9th Dan, and Hanshi Shihan.
On April 17, 2022, Kaicho Royama announced the appointment of Kancho Okazaki Hiroto, 9th Dan, Hanshi Shihan, the next Director of Kyokushinkan.
Kyokushin-kan International Karate Organization was established by Kaicho Hatsuo Royama and other senior Kyokushin masters on January 13, 2003, following the wishes of Sosai Mas Oyama, the founder of Kyokushin Karate.
Kaicho Hatsuo Royama is the current Kaicho for Kyokushin-kan International Karate Organization.
