At Azadani Dojo we primarily focus on Kyokushin Karate, a traditional and full-contact Japanese style of martial arts known for its powerful techniques and emphasis on physical and mental discipline, self-improvement philosophy, and hard training. We incorporate budo karate that focuses on one’s self; it’s much more than a competitional sport aligned with certain rules and a point system. Budo is a way of living. It is teaching one to do for self and improve self in all aspects. The act of respecting others is much easier to understand when one respects themselves. It is doing for the sake of self not show casing for a sport. You practice to improve self physically and mindfully.
For your first class, just be comfortable. Workout attire (t-shirt and sweatpants) is fine. If the student decides to sign up as a member, our dojo provides the Karate Uniform to the student as covered by the sign-up fee.
The Azadani dojo follows the Karate International Kyokushin-kan Organization technical syllabus and grading system. We have a belt-ranking system that allows students to progress from beginner levels (white belt) to advanced levels (black belt). Advancements are based on skills, knowledge, and consistent attendance. Please refer to the Grading System Page on our website under the “About Us” section titled “International Karate Grading”
